Alright. How to make transparent objects and that gorgeous light blue water and so on.People think it's way much harder than it is, it really doesn't take that many minutes to do it. You don't have to know how to draw, you don't have to draw on top of the original image either, or fill for that matter. You have to know how to open FSH editor, how to cut, paste, select colors and press control+K.It's more technical than artsy. And it's good that you can tell which color is green and which color is red so you don't make accidently red grass or anything scary :) I had a colorblind friend and he made a fence for horses to jump over and there was "grass" on the fence, only..the grass was red and it looked like a horse had tried to jump over and failed horribly. If you have a problem like that, vest colors in FSH editor are green x) just a hint.
First of all, you take the target item, like...a normal colored waterfall:
Then you just select the eyedropper tool and select the lightest color in the waterfall with your left mouse button, then you select a rather light blue color from the palette with your right mouse button. Then you press control + K and you end up with something like this:
And it still looks harsh for now, but you select the second lightest color from the waterfall with your left mouse button and this time you select a little bit darker blue(shade next to the shade you last used will look the best) with your right mouse button, and press control + K again, ending up with something like this:
And then you just continue this process untill it's completely recolored and looks about this:
So..wow...you have this light waterfall and it took you like..what?..30seconds? And you can do this to the water tiles too, You can do it to chairs, tables..just about anything. But you might want an object that's see-through, like..transparent water or transparent big trees. Well. You need to have a darkness-item for that, you can download one from http://www.furcadia.com/patches or make one yourself. So what you need to do now, is get another FSH editor open with the darkness tile in it, then select it, copy it..and paste it on top of the waterfall like this:
Now you're thinkin "Oh boi is that indi stupid, she doesn't know anything, now the waterfall looks all dark and stuff and only some goth will love it!!!" And some of you might think "Ah, I know what you're gonna do next..." Well. It's nothing special really, since the waterfall itself doesn't have black color in it, and I pasted a black checkerboard tile on it, you have to just select the black colorwith your left mouse button, and then select the transparency(background color, it's in the high left corner of your palette, all alone, waiting to be picked) with your right mouse button and then you press control + K again and wow!!
You end up with a transparent, light blue waterfall in less than a minute if you're fast! Recoloring all of the water floors might take a few minutes, but you can make them green like a swamp with green waterfalls and so on. Or you can make big trees or big pilars or walls see-through. Use your imagination, now that you know this gorgeous method that's really not a secret and doesn't require any artistic skills, you can do just about anything. Just keep in mind, when you recolor things, it's good to start from the lightest or the darkest shade and it's good to use shades that are next to eachother on the palette so it doesn't look too harsh. kthx for reading!
